February 25, 2008 I don't really want to write tonight but Brett has been hounding me now that he has finally caught on to the muzes! Hi Brett...hi Carl, Leslie, and all of you who follow us. Hello Jon.
We arrived in our park at 5:30 p.m. and all Chet has done is hook up the electricity as I still have to go through my placement anxiety and see what else is available. That doesn't mean we will move it just means I have to have all of the answers first.
It was a beautiful drive into Portland proper. It always gives me a thrill near the river. It is so pretty. There has been a ton of building going on and the whole waterfront coming into town has changed dramatically. We got a bite to eat and were astounded at the amount of traffic that was NOT the freeway. I wonder if it is the gas prices. We'll see if it stays the same as it is usually pretty backed up to get to the island where we stay. It's right off Interstate 5 at the Columbia River.
Tomorrow the fun begins as we have to shift into work mode and start the packing process for NL. Oh my, it is reality. Wowzers!!!!
We walked by one of the two houses I just sold and drove by the one that is left for this year. I was a bit anxious about how I would feel and all I could do is ball up my fists and say YEAH. It felt sooooo freeing. May the right person walk into #3 very soon and buy it....yes!
Well my friends and darling family I will say bye for now and play some Literati early as going to bed at 3 or 4 in the morning as I have done for the past 3 nights just doesn't cut it.....
February 23, 2008 I have to keep on my toes as Brett has started looking at my muzings and he keeps reminding me that there hasn't been one for a couple days.......Hi Brett!!!!!!!
I am sooooooo tired but probably not as tired as Chet. He started driving at 4:30 this morning so we could get through the mountains before an expected storm hits. He woke me at 6:15 when we got to the gas station. It sure is strange to sleep in bed while he is driving. Sometimes I bounce up in the air when hitting a bump to say nothing of the noise of the engine. I was up til 1:30 playing Literati so needless to say we are both a little plowed and stopped at our favorite 7 Feathers Casino and are parked amongst the truckers. We are going to take a nap and then have some breakfast for dinner. If Chet feels like it he will drive another 100 miles to our destination for Monday morning.
There was a lot of snow in the mountains and so very beautiful. All is well and I am off to bed.
Good afternoony-noon(nighty-night...............)
February 21, 2008 It took me 6 tries to get just the date written. Hopefully that is not an indicator of what it will be like to get this typed. I promise one day to post one with no corrections of which I just made another and two more.
Hello Brett....we are on our way and will see you in Portland in about 3 weeks.
Before we hit the road we always ask to place our hands in God's hands and take us safely on our travels. I sat down with my breakfast in my lap; cottage cheese, yogurt, an ample amount of fat free Cool Whip in vanilla and regular chocolate. Chet handed me my 1/2 of a banana as we started pulling out of our space 3 minutes after the witching hour of NOON! WITH THAT IT ALL FELL TO MY RIGHT SIDE DOWN THE CABINET, CHAIR AND OF COURSE THE CARPET. MY HANDS WERE FULL SO AS HE HAD TO PULL OVER ( I am not correcting that as I seem to like to hit the caps lock instead of A!!!!! Sorry I yelled at you ;) ;) ) I managed to get it on my pants too. We were still in the park so we pulled over and cleaned up quite a mess of which I happened to spill part of on the way to the trash. So we were safe as we hadn't left the park. It was then 12:20. We safely made the left turn onto the highway and started over Malibu Canyon and I heard the all too familiar yowl of a cat before it pukes. Twilly managed to do that all over the freshly washed long kitchen rug. We had to stop at a turnout and I cleaned as much as I could safely before someone else needed to use the turnout. As superstition has it things happen in 3's so I will consider the fact that it took 6 tries just to write the date as #3 so I won't be a nervous wreck any more than usual Okay, I can relax now and knit and assuage my pain in my heart and the stinging behind my eyes realizing I will see the kids at the end of March for an early birthday so I can save my tears for then!!!
Oh the thought that we will be in NL in May is so exciting and a dream come true even though I said to Chet today "what have we done!". My family and the fact that we will not be back to LALA land until next November...(to have 3 implants put in my mouth) seems like a long, long time. Let's not think about that now. We are on the most exciting adventure of our lives...besides giving birth! Well, my giving birth.
Freddie had a cold and we nursed him through that and then his potassium problem started but we caught it and were able to get him back in functional order. Now Twilly has the cold....it's like having 3 kids!!!!!!
Oh boy, the freeway just came to a stop...not good as we try to go over the grapevine.
Something amazing....I lost my ball point Mont Blanc pen as I have a set of 3. We seem to lose a lot in here so Chet said not to worry that it would show up.. Brett won a little door prize at a Halloween thing at his building and it has been on his coffee table. I have looked in a cursory manner several times but the other day I picked up the bag and looked closer at what was in it and what was in the bottom but my pen. Now what are the chances of that happening the exact day Chet said not to worry. Brett never saw it so I expect the housekeeper found it and put in the bag. Now how smart was that???!!!???
Happy day to you all....especially to my Brett!
February 20, 2008 Happy Birthday Caroline!!!! Be nice to yourself-you deserve it!!!
Hideeeyhooooe everybody. We get to leave LALA Land tomorrow. Besides leaving the family we are very happy to be out of here. This place is an entity of its own. We listen to the horns beeping and watch and listen to the way people treat each other and all I can say is I used to be one of those people and I am soooo glad I don't live here anymore. It is so easy to get caught up in the frenetic energy and the "it's all about me" attitude when living here. Being away gives me the opportunity to see what life out of LALA Land is really all about and it is ever so much more pleasant and civil. I saw my sister yesterday and she looked so frail. She has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's which saddened me greatly and took me back to what it was like with my mom. Chet was kind enough(as he always is)to remind me that we don't have the same mother. I don't know how I feel about that statement as her mother did not have it. Oh well, it saddened me as I have lost her as I know her.
We are going to spend some time with Brett today and if Mitchell can unwind enough we may get to see him and Andrea too.
Life is good and we are off on another adventure. We will have 5 nights to go to Portland as we were lucky enough to get an appointment in Eugene on Monday morning to get the satellite dish worked on. It ought to be an adventure as it takes 1 night to get there. We will see what we can find to do. Surely I will let you know!
Have to run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 16, 2008 I am sorry! I can't seem to pull myself away from my Literati games and have not had very many hours of sleep for the last 3 or 4 nights. So far I have had to change 6 mistakes and have only finished one sentence and the date. It has to get better!
We went down to the beach and went for a walk. It was really nice except we forgot the camera. We wanted to send some pictures to our NL friends and our Oregon and Michigan friends. It is amazing here. It has been a long time since I have had my feet in the water.
We are enjoying our time doing nothing....playing games and Chet has been doing his web page homework. I have been trying to knit in between but haven't even been doing much of that. Oh these golden years; we are finally learning how to use them!!
We had a lovely Valentine's Day and went to dinner in a cute place that had rose petals all over the floors and tables. I secretly wanted a place like that as we had celebrated with our friends Craig and Tammy in Oregon a few years ago and went to a restaurant that had rose petals all over the place. It was so sweet and romantic. We went to the movies afterwards and then dropped Brett off at his place.
The whole day before, Andrea and I spent the day at the Grove which is a beautiful but crowded shopping center and we shopped and had lunch. It is where the LaLa Land American Girl doll store is and those of you who know of my doll collection know I had a GREAT time there. I have six of the period dolls and many of their accoutrements. Three are in NL, one with us and the rest in storage. They will all be happy to be together in NL!!!!!!!
It is already getting hard to get ready to say bye to the kids before we continue on our journey to the Northeastern part of the continent and our new summer home. Don't get me wrong...I am ecstatic about going but don't do the separation part well.
Poor old Freddie is under the weather again...we hope we caught it in time so we won't have to go to the vet.
I hope you are all doing well and are happy......... I will get Chet to put some more pictures up soon!
February 14, 2008 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!Well, we only have 1 dentist appointment left to go to next week. TA DA.........We had more than enough appointments and trips to the pharmacy. The Twilly just ate some string off of Chet's Valentine balloons. I have misspelled over half of the words I have typed so far. It may have something to do with the fact that I was playing Literati on 'games.yahoo.com' until 2:30 a. m. If I don't stop it I will just give up on this muze.
It has been spectacular here until yesterday when it stopped being sunny, the fog rolled in, it dropped over 10 degrees and the winds are howling. I guess the fog will get blown away. We decided to stay 1 more week and try and have a nice relaxing time.
For Valentine's we are going to a movie. We went the other night and sat in a small theater with reserved seats that I had to of course change. We ended up on the first row in a very low, soft, cushy couch. As Chet was helping me up he said we could have stayed in a motel for what we spent for the movie. We were laughing so hard I could hardly get up. It is the way I have always envisioned the movie seating to be....just not to cost so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is LALA land.
I've had it....the typing is not improving at all.
Have a great day filled with lovely love...............
February 11, 2008 Welcome home, C&J!!! I probably didn't tire your eyes with my amazing muze yesterday. Somehow I obviously got sidetracked. We had a nice day sitting around with our friends, Phil and Kathy and showing them pictures of our home and travels in Newfoundland. After, we went to Brett's for pizza and salad and a couple of hours of 'Fraiser' DVD's. It was really funny. Today we will walk and then off to the urologist. It is an information gathering visit with a procedure I am not at all looking forward to but oh well!!!
We've decided to stay an extra week to decompress a bit before heading to Portland. It has been solid running and we need a little T/O. The weather has been spectacular and watching the ocean is always a pleasure.
Here's a link to a very cute video of what life is like now. We had a good laugh. Enjoy....
February 10, 2008 The month is over 1/3 gone already. It is amazing how fast it goes.
February 7, 2008 EEEEEEEEEEEEGADS!!!!!!!! Where has the time gone? I have been remiss and haven't written a muze in days. It is only because we have been having so much fun that the time has just flown by. NOT!!!!!!!!! We have been going to our yearly doctor appointments and have been so exhausted that we have come back to our little home at night and watched a little tv and then to bed. Here it's not just going from one to the other, it's like taking a trip. It's 45 minutes to Santa Monica or an hour to Beverly Hills, an hour to the San Fernando Valley and one back and that has been miraculous as the traffic has been flowing. Chet had to detour as The Topanga Canyon road he was going to use to get back to Santa Monica to get me from yet one more new doctor yesterday was closed due to a bank robbery in process. I ended up sitting for 2 hours before I even got in to see the doctor, so he returned just as I was finished.. We are making trips to dentists; trips, not just one and on it goes. It has been a week and a day since getting to Malibu and we can't stop running. Today we may have most of the day off and what a pleasure. I have only seen Brett twice and Mitchell and Andrea a few times.
This may sound as boring as the time we are having so far. Our most expensive parking place is Malibu RV Park as we never get to just sit and watch the ocean. For 3 nights it blew so hard that we were rocking.
The house I took the offer on did get sold and will close in March sometime after the 15th. An offer on another came in and I wouldn't even counter. The other agent was supposedly "stunned" that I did that but I won't play with people who make ridiculous offers. My agent (and beeeeest friend) is on a cruise in the Caribbean right now. That must be tough to handle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
